A Woman’s Place Is In The Distillery
Did you know that only 1% of distilleries in the U.S. are owned by women?! Lucky us, Portland is home to Freeland Spirits – a woman-founded and run distillery nestled in an industrial space just off Northwest 23rd. Former agriculture educator and nonprofit leader Jill Kuehler teamed up with distiller Molly Troupe (who has a background in biochemistry, and a Masters in distilling, nbd!), and Freeland Spirits was born.
Hardworking politico secures her first home!
EIGHT OFFERS IN AND LINDSEY GOT IT!
And on the first offer she wrote – not too bad for your first home considering it’s in inner SE just a couple blocks from the Division Foodie row! Lindsey has a demanding job in politics that takes her to Salem most days. With that long commute, walkability and location were high on her list, so we were thrilled to find this home in the Clinton-Division Arts Neighborhood, near so many restaurants and shops. It was a rental for years and definitely needs a touch up here and there, but Lindsey could see that with the right amount of sprucing and styling, it will be as fresh and cute as can be.
CONGRATULATIONS, LINDSEY! YOU DID IT!
Surprise Surprise. “Grandfather” is a racist.
We use it all the time in Real Estate. The clause itself makes great sense. It’s a convenient shorthand way of conveying when an old rule continues to apply to an existing situation. But of course, it’s totally racist.
“Lezzbie” & “Flannel-Anna” find a home for Lily!
First of all, let’s talk about this puppy. A blue-eyed bundle of Anatolian Pyrenees perfection!
And then there’s the house- even more perfection! It’s a totally dialed little Brentwood Darlington Ranch for well under $325k on a nicely landscaped large lot. And this little family couldn’t deserve it more. The odds were against them with multiple competing offers in but they prevailed with a little escalation clause and a lot of determination. It’s just down the street from their sister and a short walk to all the Woodstock happenings.
In conclusion, Brentwood Darlington is a great area to consider buying because A. You will be Lily’s neighbor and B. It’s very affordable and close to all the things! Boom.
LEZ ROLL!
Don’t tell my Dad, buuuut we got our motorcycle endorsements last weekend! We both passed the written and the skills tests. Woohoo! And yes, I was reminded of my extreme test anxiety in the process.
I know it’s very dangerous and the statistics are NOT in my favor. But hey, if everything crashes and burns in The Big One and we have to run for the hills, you know I’ll be good to go! Special thanks to Team Oregon and our excellent instructors Theresa and Samantha. Along with the one and only Amanda Sundvor of Icon Motosports for hooking us up with all the gear. Now LEZ roll y’all. Dykes on Bikes here we come!
Emily & Adam’s Majestic Mansion!
OKAY, MAYBE NOT EXACTLY A MANSION BUT IT SURE DOES FEEL LIKE ONE!
These two were no-nonsense when it came to finding what they wanted. Plenty of space to expand, a party room, backyard pool potential, but most importantly- a place to put their amazing vintage camper, named the “The Funky Bitch”.
Congratulations Adam & Emily. We sure are looking forward to those future pool parties!
Denver’s Queer Community Compound!
From Denver’s brilliant mouth –
Hmmmm… I think that considering the political climate with LGBTQ+ and specifically Trans right to work without discrimination, I want folks to know that if they are in a place for homeownership it’s potential to build not just a monetary nest egg but space for sanctuary and dependable housing . The layout for privacy AND co-housing is what did it for me… and the shag.
OH and also the next-door neighbors that were instant BFFs.
Escape the rental merry-go-round with this charmer on Restaurant Row!
We all know it kind of sucks to be a renter. You lack control and security and your rent can go up at any time. Even with the generous rental law improvements made in the past few years, it can still be tough to feel like your home is truly your HOME.
Do you dream of owning your own place, but feel like the expense of maintaining a whole house is overwhelming? This super sweet condo mere blocks off Division may just be the ticket! Imagine a place of your very own to invest in, without having to worry about the roof or landscaping. You’ve got all the goods of Division and Clinton at your disposal, and it’s great for those livin’ that car-free lifestyle since you are surrounded by greenways. It’s the inner-city dream!
Buyer beware! Tree of Heaven won’t take you there!
Perhaps you haven’t noticed them, but they are EVERYWHERE and hopefully you will after this. These stinky little (oftentimes big) trees are taking over the Portland streets and gardens.
“Outside Europe and the United States the plant has been spread to many other areas beyond its native range. In a number of these, it has become an invasive species due to its ability both to colonize disturbed areas quickly and to suppress competition with allelopathic chemicals. The tree also resprouts vigorously when cut, making its eradication difficult and time-consuming. In many urban areas, it has acquired the derisive nicknames of “stink tree“, and “tree of Hell“.
Want to uplevel your house parties? Consider bringing in a UNICORN!
DID YOU KNOW THAT PORTLAND IS HOME TO AN AMAZING CUSTOM INFLATABLE DESIGNER?!
“$259,000 are you outta your mind?!”
You read right folks, $259k was the sale price for a lovely home in North Portland, Oregon USA. And it went to the sweetest couple on this side of the Columbia, Anne & Paul. They were no-nonsense when it came to pursuing this amazing score of a home. Nestled in the small community of Bridgeton, this little homie sits atop the Columbia Slough with an amazing view to the North.
The Little Dream That Could
Her little-dream-that-could quickly transformed into an awesome reality.
Neighborhood Spotlight: La Taq Cantina & Taqueria
Soooooooo hot weather always has me craving tacos and margs. If Podnah’s Pit BBQ is not quite your vibe, but you still gotta get your tasty smoked brisket fix, La Taq is the place to get your snack on. They use a lot of the same meats as Podnah’s, but in their own unique way.
Brooke’s Babely Bungalow!!!
We went in metaphorical guns a-blazin’ on this sweet NoPo bungalow and even with multiple offers, Brooke managed to shine bright and land this darlin’ under contract! We were prepared for the long haul but stars aligned and it ended up being a one and done situation.
The house itself is a great Cape Cod in Portsmouth with 2 full bathrooms, which we scored for the sweet deal of $375k. She has big plans to update and make it her own, including opening up the kitchen up with a sliding door to a spankin’ new deck overlooking the backyard. It’s going to look so freakin good! Congrats Brooke!
Consider rafting the Deschutes!
Did you know that you can go on a thrilling rafting adventure a mere 2 hours from Portland?! The little town of Maupin nearly doubles in size during the summer months all thanks to nature’s legit roller coaster: The Deschutes River. For a mere $65 per person, we did the perfect 3-hour float down with All-Star Rafting (Request Morgan as your guide- she’s the best!).
Sure, I was the only one who said NO to flipping the boat. Sorry, I like to be safe and not drown sheesh. But we def shredded multiple class 4 rapids like the best of them.
Kenton Cutie
Check out Amanda & Mat in their perfect Kenton ranch for $375k. Total babes, amiright???
A perfect cutie of a ranch, this babe is proud and spacious with a true master bedroom, dialed landscaping, super energy efficient systems, and so totally theirs now. Single level livin’ sure is the life!
With a few updates to the finish work, this baby will be a hot lil’ MCM ranch in no time. Congrats to my peeps, and enjoy you sweet new Kenton neighborhood!
Homo-ners-R-Us
How does that old saying go… you can’t lose if you don’t try? No, that’s not the one. Oh yeah, it’s “you can’t score if you don’t shoot.” For the readers out there in blogland not privy to the sportsball, that’s a sweet B-Ball reference. Buckets, baby.
Enter my OG Portland homie, Amanda. Her perceived impossibility of being a HOMO-ner was just that, perceived. She spent years knowing the PNW is where she not only wanted to lay down some funky beats (contact for booking – kidding… not really), she also wanted to lay down some roots.
Modern Elevation in Sylvan Highlands
Remodeled mid-century modern style home perched at the end of a private driveway on an over-sized forested lot in Sylvan Highlands. Open concept main floor and vaulted ceilings provide lots of natural light. Large kitchen perfect for entertaining or an experimental chef.
Make it a double.
There really should be a cuter word than DUPLEX. It’s sounds sterile. Not at all like the bangin’ little babe that my sister just bought. It’s a total peach and while it’s got a little fixing up to do, it’s nothing my dear TiTi can’t handle.
Started from the bottom, now we’re here!
Here’s the scene:
I’m in the 3rd grade. My dad is the coach of the Black Stallions softball team, of which I am obligated to be a part. We have never won a game. Not one.
