Gold & Grimm
I recently helped my neighbor in Milwaukie sell their charming ranch, and while I was sad to lose my rad neighbor, she bought one of the coolest homes in North Portland off Williams Street. We call it a “Gingerbread Victorian”, because well, just look at it! Cute as a story-tale cottage, but like the tale of Hansel & Gretel, it had a strange secret. Before the sellers put it on the market, it was host to the show Grimm and had undergone a very dramatic (and creepy) makeover. The entire interior of the home was painted top to bottom in gold. It was also covered in roots and branches to give it a nest-like appearance. Want to see the spookiness unfold? It’s featured on Season 1, episode 14, starting at minute 26 (currently available on Amazon Prime).
After filming wrapped, the house was restored to it’s former charm, with not a monster or copper-loving demon to be seen. However, as a nod to the home’s former visitors, the sellers decided to leave one of the bedrooms gold. And honestly, I love it.
Congrats to my dynamite client! Looking forward to seeing how you make this Grimm House your own!
